Bhubaneswar : A large crowd Sunday ransacked at least seven medicine shops and torched three of them in an Orissa town after police busted a spurious medicine making unit and seized a huge quantity of fake drugs.
The irate residents of Kantabanji town in Bolangir district, over 400 km from here, raided the shops soon after they opened, alleging a nexus between the fake drug manufacturers and the stores.
"We wanted to teach the shops owners a lesson," a protestor said.
There is a nexus between the medicines shops, fake drug manufacturers and local health officials, a social activist alleged.
