Srinagar : At least one Army personnel was killed and another injured when militants ambushed and fired upon a patrolling party of Rashtriya Rifles at Mahama Bijbehara in South Kashmir Anantnag district late last night.
Sources told News Agency of Kashmir the patrol party came under a heavy fire when they were at Dudu Mahama resulting in the death of one personnel and injuries to another. . The militants fired from a near by orchard where they hiding., sources said
Giving details a police Officer said that during the preceding night, some unidentified militants fired upon a patrolling party of 3-RR at Dadu Marhama, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bijbehara.
"Two soldiers were injured in the incident among which one succumbed to his injuries in hospital", the police officer said.
Militants managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness, sources said adding that a search operation has been launched to nab the militants.
