New Delhi : The monsoon session of parliament is likely to begin Aug 10, coinciding with the poll for vice president, and end Sep 14.
The five-week session will have a special midnight session on Aug 14-15 to commemorate 60 years of the country's independence, official sources said.
A special midnight session of parliament on Aug 14-15, 1947 had heralded the birth of independent India, when the country's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru delivered his famous "tryst with destiny" speech.
During the tenure of then prime minister Inder Kumar Gujral, another midnight session was held in August 1997 to mark 50 years of independence.
