London : Rains miraculously came to India's rescue as their first Test against England was abandoned as a draw on the fifth and final day here Monday.
England needed just one last wicket to win the match and take a lead in the three-match series. But Mahendra Singh Dhoni (76 not out) and Sreesanth (4 not out) defied the attack before rains came down at Lord's and the umpires decided to call off the day's play after a while.
Set to chase 380 for a win, India scored 282 for nine wickets in their second innings. England had scored 298 and 282 and India made 201 in their first innings.
