Islamabad : Reacting to statements from Washington that it may consider use of force on Pakistani soil to destroy Al Qaeda hideouts, Islamabad Monday warned that such action would be "an irresponsible act".
"No other country would be allowed to take action inside Pakistan, one way or the other, at any cost," foreign office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said commenting on the US statement that it did not rule out military action against Al Qaeda leaders sheltering inside Pakistan.
"Pakistan has been playing a key role in the global war on terror and has been taking effective measures against terrorism activities and will continue to do so," Aslam said during the weekly press briefing.
A White House aide had said Sunday that the US would consider the use of military force, if necessary, to stem Al Qaeda's growing ability to use its hideouts in Pakistan to launch terrorist attacks.
