New Delhi : Christy L. Fernandes, currently serving as tourism secretary in the central government, has been appointed secretary to the new president, official sources said Wednesday.
Fernandes, a 1973 Gujarat cadre Indian Administrative Service officer, is likely to take over immediately after president-elect Pratibha Patil takes oath in the afternoon.
His appointment has been approved by the appointments committee of the cabinet, the sources added.
