New Delhi : The Indian cabinet Thursday approved the signing of a legal assistance agreement with Egypt to combat crime and terrorism.
"The cabinet gave its approval for signing of (the) agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters and also ratification of the agreement," Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The pact will help improve "effective cooperation" between India and Egypt in matters of investigation, prosecution and suppression of crime through cooperation and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.
