The president, India's first woman head of state who was sworn in Wednesday, will meet Manmohan Singh at 7.15 p.m. for their first formal interaction, said Rashtrapati Bhavan sources.

"The president is meeting people from her native place during the day. There will be some visitors from Rajasthan too," said the sources.

Patil, 72, hails from Maharashtra's Jalgaon district. Her husband Devisingh Ransingh Shekhawat is a Rajput from Rajasthan's Sikar village who has now settled in Maharashtra.

Patil was serving as governor of Rajasthan when her name was proposed as the country's 12th president early last month.
