New Delhi : An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 on the Richter scale struck the Nicobar Islands early Thursday morning, India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said here.
"An earthquake of moderate intensity struck the Nicobar Islands at 05.08 a.m. Thursday," an IMD official said.
He added that no tsunami warning had been sounded in the region.
