Islamabad : Pakistan Thursday successfully test-fired its 700 km range Hataf VII cruise missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads, an official said here.
Hataf VII, a terrain-hugging and radar-avoiding missile, can be fired from the French acquired Agosta submarine and also from the US fighter jets F-16s and F-17s.
Hataf VII is the latest missile in the Babur series that Pakistan is developing, reportedly with North Korean help. It was last tested in March this year.
The Hataf missile was first tested in 2005. Since, then its range has been enhanced from 500 km to 700 km.
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful missile test, The News said.
