Kolkata : Incumbent Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Prasun Mukherjee made a clean sweep in the state cricket body polls Saturday as his entire panel got elected.
Samar Pal and Amitava Banerjee, joint secretary candidates from Mukherjee's panel, secured 80 and 57 votes respectively while the opposition consisting of Saradindu Pal and Biswaroop Dey, who were tacitly backed by the Jagmohan Dalmiya camp, got 40 and 50 votes respectively.
Tushar Sarkar, Mukherjee's candidate for the post of treasurer, also upstaged sitting official Shibkumar Kalyani. While Sarkar scored 68, Kalyani managed 50 votes.
CAB elections were held Saturday for the posts of two joint secretaries and a treasurer, for which six candidates were in the fray.
Earlier, Kolkata Police Commissioner Mukherjee got elected uncontested with former International Cricket Council president Dalmiya deciding not to contest the polls this year despite a Calcutta High Court judgment favouring him against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which had slapped corruption charges against him and banned him for life.
There was also no contest for the vice-presidents' posts as Russi Jeejeebhoy, Indranath Dey, Nemai Charan Dutta and Subhasish Sarkar, all Mukherjee's candidates, were elected.
The CAB polls assumed significance after the court verdict favouring Dalmiya.
