Chandigarh : There was more joy for Punjab boy Achin Bansal, the topper of this year's entrance test for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), as the state government Thursday announced that it will bear all his educational expenses.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal made the announcement as he sent a congratulatory message to the topper.
The results of the prestigious IIT joint entrance examination (IIT JEE) were declared Wednesday and Achin, son of a paediatrician in Kot Kapura town, 250 km from here in southwest Punjab, topped it from among 243,000 aspirants.
The chief minister said that the IIT entrance results were particularly good for Punjab this year with many candidates clearing the toughest engineering entrance test.
