Jammu: Disappointed by their performance, Peoples Democratic Party Chief patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed today rebuked the Jammu based party leaders for their failure in strengthening the caders at grass root level.
Mufti had convened a meeting of the Jammu based party leaders at the party headquarter here today.
Holding them responsible for `weakening party position in Jammu region’, the former chief minister even named few old hawks who skipped their recent assignments by citing domestic engagements.
“It is unfortunate that most of our leaders do not want to leave Jammu and go to people in the far flung areas of Kishtwar, Doda, Rajouri and Poonch”, he reportedly told party leaders in the meeting.
Insiders told News Agency of Kashmir that the party chief patron announced in the meeting that owning to the failure of the party leaders he would now himself tour Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts, while party president Mahbooba Mufti would be deputed to the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
Sayeed further expressed displeasure over the way the party affairs were being handled in the region. “The party has a great potential in the region and people trust us for what we have done throughout these years but unfortunately you (leaders) have not even been able to explain our proposal of self rule to the masses”, he said.
