Paris : Roger Federer took his tenth straight win over Russian Mikhail Youzhny on Sunday, a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, 6-4 fourth-round victory to send the Swiss into the second week of the French Open.
The top seed in the quest for a first-ever title at Roland Garros, is grinding towards another final in a week against against two-time winner Rafael Nadal, who plays for the quarter-finals on Monday against Lleyton Hewitt.
Federer will next face off against Spain's ninth seed Tommy Robredo, who defeated Italian Filippo Volandri 6-2, 7-5, 6-1.
"It was a tough match, he's a good player," said Federer. "I lost serve in my opening game to start badly, but I recovered, I'm happy with how it went today."
Federer moved through in two hours, 25 minutes as he equalled the record of 11 straight Grand Slam matches won in straight sets.
