French Open: Paes-Damm bow out of men’s doubles

Paris : India's Leander Paes and his Czech partner Martin Damm crashed out of the French Open after they lost to German pair of Michael Kohlmann and Rainer Schuettler in the second round of the men's doubles here Saturday.

The third seeded Indo-Czech pair went down 3-6, 6-1, 3-6 to the unseeded German pair. After losing the first set 3-6, Paes and Damm came out strongly and blanked the Germans 6-1 to win the second set. Even in the third set, they showed some urgency but unfortunately went down fighting.

Later in the day, Paes will team up with American Meghan Shaughnessy in the first round match of the mixed doubles to face the seventh seeded pair of Mike Bryan of the US and Yung Jan Chen of Chinese Taipei.
