Paris : India's Leander Paes and his American partner Meghann Shaughnessy stormed into the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles competition of the French Open tennis tournament.
Paes and Shaughnessy defeated Marcin Matkowski of Poland and Sybille Bammer of Austria 6-2, 0-6, 10-8 in a second round encounter here Sunday.
Meanwhile, India's Sania Mirza and her French partner Fabrice Santoro were ousted from the mixed doubles.
The Indo-French pair was defeated by Katernia Srebotnik of Slovakia and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia 6-2, 7-6 (1) in a second round tie here Sunday.
Sania had earlier bowed out of the women's singles and women's doubles event.
