According to Captain Musa Morad, Director General of Fujairah Port, the port had already received an oil tanker, WAM news agency said. He said the port's administration had informed all shipping agencies that the port was ready to receive all types of ships, adding that the port had not suffered any damage. Morad re-affirmed that every portion of the port is functioning normally.

Cyclone Gonu, the worst tropical storm to hit the Gulf in decades, originated over the Sea of Oman and made landfall in that country around noon Wednesday. Wind speeds of over 200 kilometres an hour forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people, and led to flights being suspended at Muscat airport.
