Two, including French woman, injured in hotel fire

New Delhi : Two women, including a French national, were critically injured when a fire broke out in a south Delhi hotel.

The fire in the ground and first floors of the Regalia Inn hotel started in Chittaranjan Park around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said two women – a French national, 31-year-old Lamia, and 29-year-old Lissie Ahuja from Ludhiana in Punjab – suffered severe burn injuries and were immediately rushed to the Safdarjung Hospital.

"The French national has sustained 95 percent burn injuries and is battling for her life," Deputy Commissioner of Police Anil Shukla said.

Ahuja received burn injuries in her hands and legs.

"We are ascertaining the case of fire and a case of negligence has been registered against the hotel owner. No arrests have been made so far," Shukla added.

According to fire officials, six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and doused the blaze in half hour.
