Afkar-e-Milli hosts conference on proactive role of Muslims

New Delhi :  Urdu monthly Afkar-e-Milli will host a conference on "Towards a Better World: The Role of Muslims" at India Islamic Cultural Centre here Sunday. The event marks the completion of 20 years of the magazine's publication.

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan will inaugurate this day-long programme chaired by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Ameer Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri while All India Muslim Personal Law Board President Maulana Syed Rabey Hasani Nadvi will deliver the keynote address.

The first session of the conference will witness eminent Ulema and scholars like All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) member Maulana Syed Salman Hasani Nadvi, Safinatul Hidaya director Allama Syed Aaqil Al Gharavi, Editor Urdu monthly Zindagi-e-Nau Dr. Fazlur Rahman Faridi and renowned Islamic economist Professor M. Nejatullah Siddiqui. They will speak on Moral Crisis of the Contemporary World and Islam, Spiritual Crisis of the Modern World and Islam, Social Crisis of the Present Day World and Islam, and Economic Problems of Modern World and Islam respectively.

In the second or afternoon session of the conference other Ulama and Islamic scholars will enlighten the audience on issues of vital importance for Indian Muslims. Professor S.M. Pasha of Jamia Millia Islamia will speak on Neo-Imperialism and the Muslim Ummah while AIMPLB vice president Dr. Maulana Kalb-e-Sadiq will deliver a lecture on Clash of Civilizations or Dialogue. Editor Milli Gazette Dr. Zafrul Islam Khan will speak on Negative Attitude of Media against Islam and Muslims, All India Milli Council vice president Maulana Abdul Wahab Khilji will make a speech on the Unity of Ummah: Issues and Imperatives, and Hujjatul Islam Allama Syed Zeeshan Hidayati will speak on Ek hon Muslim Haram ki Pasbani ke Liye.

The conference will conclude with the presidential remarks by JIH ameer Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri.
