He is said to have slashed both his wrists and was rushed to a nearby by family members and neighbours Hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.

"It seems Maninder was in depression, which might have forced him to take such extreme action," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajay Chaudhry.

Maninder was arrested May 22 with another former cricketer, Saim Siddiqui, for possessing one and a half grams of cocaine. A court granted him bail the next day.

Although he is no more an active cricketer, Maninder is still connected with the game as a commentator.

Maninder played international cricket for India for 11 years. He made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1983 at Karachi. His ODI debut, also in the same year, was against Zimbabwe in New Delhi.
