Kolkata : At least nine people, including a woman, were killed and four injured when a truck rammed into a stationary tourist bus in West Midnapore district of West Bengal Saturday morning.
"It occurred early in the morning when the truck suddenly rammed into the tourist bus killing nine people," West Midnapore Superintendent of Police R. Rajshekharan told IANS.
The accident occurred on National Highway-6 at Basantpur, about 100 km from here.
While six people died on the spot, three succumbed to their injuries in Midnapore Medical College hospital.
All the victims, belonging to the Sunderban areas of South 24 Parganas district, were returning from a pilgrimage to Puri.
