Pope for negotiated Mideast solution

Rome : Pope Benedict XVI has called for a regional negotiated solution to conflicts in the Middle East.

According to a release by the Holy See, the Pope in a meeting with the US President George W. Bush, said the Iraqi situation was causing concern and asked about the Catholic community in the Arab state.

Benedict XVI also advocated solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and that with Lebanon through dialogue.
