New Delhi : Revenue Secretary K.M. Chandrasekhar takes over as cabinet secretary from B.K. Chaturvedi Wednesday.
Chaturvedi, who had been given a one-year extension, ends his term Wednesday.
Chandrasekhar, 59, a 1970 batch Kerala cadre IAS officer, was India's ambassador in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) before becoming revenue secretary in October 2004.
Chaturvedi has been made member of the Planning Commission.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh hosted a lunch in honour of Chaturvedi.
