Khan outlined his strategy at a press conference with Sharif at the international headquarters of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) here Tuesday, reports the Pakistani daily Dawn.

Khan was in London to talk to Sharif over the proposed Multi-Party Conference (MPC) hosted by the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD), a conglomerate of 18 political parties in Pakistan opposed to the military government.

The July 7-8 conference will focus on launching a countrywide struggle against the government.

"We will be inviting Nawaz Sharif to come home and lead the struggle," said Khan, indicating that the former prime minister was most likely to return to the country in late July or early September.

Describing MPC as a milestone, Khan also appealed to former prime minister Benazir Bhutto to attend the MPC as, according to him, "all democratic forces" needed to join hands.

Khan said his visit to Britain was also to meet decision-makers and law-enforcement agencies of the British government and to apprise them of what he said was the mafia style politics of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM). The leaders of MQM, which has its base in Karachi, are based in Britain.
