New Delhi : The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) Wednesday arrested a senior Western Railway official for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.50,000 from a peon.
Vaibhav Chauhan, deputy chief personnel officer, was caught red-handed from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh when he took money from the peon on the pretext of revoking his termination order and regularising his service as a group D employee.
"A revolver and around 50 cartridges of a rifle were recovered during the search of his residence," the CBI said in a press statement here.
Sleuths of the central investigating agency also recovered cash worth Rs.380,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs.720,000 from his bank locker.
