Though Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat seems set to be supported by the NDA, the Shiv Sena made a statement late Friday evening virtually supporting Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil.

"There is no question of leaving the NDA. The politics of Maharasthra is different. We have always maintained that a Marathi should occupy the top position. So, if a Marathi is getting the chance, we must not oppose it," Sena spokesman Sanjay Raut said.

Another key partner of NDA, Janata Dal-United is yet to decide on the presidential poll with its president Sharad Yadav saying "we will have our say in the NDA meeting. We will all take a joint decision."

The presidential election is scheduled for July 19.
