Kabul : A US soldier opened fire at civilians after a suicide bombing in Kabul Saturday, killing one and injuring other, the police said.
"A US soldier mistakenly caused the casualties after a suicide bombing hit a military convoy in west Kabul," deputy police chief Ali Shah Paktiawal said.
Some citizens launched a short protest against the killing, he added.
The suicide blast killed four civilians and injured a foreign soldier and three civilians. Eight civilian vehicles and one military vehicle were damaged in the attack.
Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
International forces in this country have mistakenly killed civilians from time to time, greatly undermining the Afghan people's support to them.
Meanwhile, Afghan forces claimed to have killed a regional Taliban commander and captured other in the central Ghazni province.
A defence a statement Saturday said the Afghan National Army (ANA) eliminated Mawlawi Abdul Basir, a Taliban commander in Ghazni, and captured Mullah Kakar over the past 48 hours.
However, it did not say how senior the captured commanders ranked in the Taliban hierarchy.
Another five militants were also captured during the operation, which was launched Thursday, and a number of arms and ammunitions were recovered, according to the statement.
The statement said four Afghan soldiers were killed and nine others injured in eastern and southern provinces of the country over the past three days.
