Raipur : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh is arriving here Tuesday to take stock of the Chhattisgarh government's performance and draw up a strategy for the next year's state assembly elections

Rajnath Singh will attend a crucial core committee meeting of the BJP's state unit attended by Chief Minister Raman Singh and state party president Vishnu Deo Sai.

The BJP chief is likely to hold individual meetings with the state's ministers.

"He will meet each minister individually to analyse the work done by them. The core committee will review ministers' performances and may even suggest a replacement if they are not satisfied with an individual's ministerial commitments," party sources said Monday.

The BJP, which came to power in Chhattisgarh in December 2003, lost a crucial assembly bypoll to the Congress in 2006 and suffered another electoral setback in April when it lost the Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha seat to the Congress.

These losses led to party members questioning Raman Singh's leadership abilities and popularity with the masses. However, the party did have a reason to smile earlier this month when it bagged two assembly seats – Khairagarh, a Congress bastion, and Malkharoda from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
