New Delhi : Heat and discomfort made a short comeback Tuesday morning as the sun shone bright over Delhi after a four-day wet spell. But with cool breeze and thick clouds making an appearance by noon, it looked like rain again.
The temperature recorded at 10.30 a.m. was a cool 33 degrees Celsius accompanied by bright sunshine. The minimum temperature was 24.8 degrees.
Owing to a high humidity level of 98 percent in the morning, discomfort levels had risen as well.
"Oh god, the heat again! The weather has been so pleasant over the weekend and today it's again hot and humid. I hope it rains," said Sarita Dasgupta, a resident of north Delhi.
As the day advanced, Dasgupta's prayers, like many others, were answered with the city skies turning cloudy.
And officials at the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had good news to offer. "The skies will remain cloudy for the better part of the day and there are chances of rain and thundershowers accompanied by a squall by evening," an official told IANS.
The maximum temperature would not go beyond 35 degrees Celsius, he said.
IMD also predicted that the rains would be here for some time as they are caused by cyclonic disturbances that are currently over Jammu and Kashmir.
"The cyclonic disturbances have not yet subsided so the weather will remain pleasant for some time," added the met official.
