New Delhi : Congress president Sonia Gandhi Tuesday nominated former Meghalaya governor M.M. Jacob and senior party leader R.K. Dhawan as permanent invitees to the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the apex decision making body of the ruling party.
Jacob and Dhawan were nominated to fill two vacancies in the list of permanent invitees – one after Arunachal Pradesh leader Mukut Mithi was appointed Puducherry lieutenant governor and the death last year of Ghani Khan Chowdhury, MP from West Bengal.
The CWC, headed by Sonia Gandhi, has 20 members including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, 13 special invitees and 14 permanent invitees.
