Linking of Urdu with modern education is needed : Arjun

Hyderabad : Arjun Singh, the minister of Human Resource Development, stressed the need of linking the Urdu language with modern education. He also said that the urban development of the English language is not good since the spirit of Indianism will be affected by this.

While addressing the second degree distribution ceremony of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (  MANU ), he stated that a very skillful and technically advanced work force is available in powerful countries like China, Russia, Eastern Europe but their main language is not English.

He suggested that our work force should gain power with different
Indian languages and he also stressed that real development is not possible with the urban model of English.

He averted that the Urdu language develops the intellect and all the latest technology can be developed by utilizing this language.

Describing the steps taken by the central Government to provide the latest education in Urdu, Singh said that the center has established academies in Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia and in this
university for the professional development of Urdu teachers.

He further stated that the Government has supported the proposal of
Maulana Azad National Urdu University to open a Model Urdu School like Kendriye Vidyala ( Central School ).

Mr Singh has inaugurated the Instructional Media Centre and other departments of education here.He also said that the University Grants Commission ( UGC ) has granted a fund of Rs 7 crore for the opening of the Urdu Centre for the development of the Urdu language through Urdu Medium.

He expressed his satisfaction on the mission of Maulana Azad National Urdu University to spread education through Urdu medium and said that this university has done remarkable things in the field of education.
