Identified as Mohammad Yaqub and Nasir, they were caught by the special task force (STF) from near the Lucknow railway station.

Both the men belonged to Bijnore district of western Uttar Pradesh and were taken to Pakistan by a West Bengal-based Inter-Services Intelligence agent Jalajuddin, alias Babu, in June 2005, police said.

State police chief G.L. Sharma told a hurriedly called press conference that, "both the young men have confessed they had received training in Pakistani territory."

He said: "Interrogation of the two terrorists revealed that they were in the process of receiving a total of 100 kg RDX through separate consignments over the coming weeks."

"Both carried sufficient evidence of their connection with Harkat-ul-Jehad-al-Islami (HuJI), the relatively newer Pakistani terrorist outfit. They were trained at ISI run camps in Pakistan."

Sharma said the two were out to unleash terror by carrying out blasts in different parts of the state.
