Chetankumar P. Patel, 33, and his mother, Minakshi Patel, 50, appeared before an Ohio court Wednesday and were later taken to the county jail in Twinsburg, Ohio.

Both are charged with aggravated murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

The victim Sejal Patel's body was found July 2, 2005, in the rear cargo compartment of a Mercedes sport utility vehicle, which was parked in a DaimlerChrysler stamping plant in Ohio. The body of the 28-year-old woman was concealed in a blanket, investigators said.

Two other people were arrested in connection with the murder. Rupal Patel, 32, pleaded guilty to murder charges last month and was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole after 15 years while 37-year-old Vijaykumar V. Patel is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing next week, Ohio.com reported.

According to court records, Chetankumar Patel had a history of domestic violence with his wife. He was arrested on such a charge in May 2005.

Sejal's family has earlier told investigators that she was having problems with her husband and mother-in-law because she did not strictly follow Indian cultural traditions.
