Lucknow :Â Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati has nominated renowned legal expert Ghiyasuddin Qidwai as chairman State Minority Commission for one year.
The number of members of the Commission has been increased from six to 17.
Besides, the chief minister also named Abha Agnihotri as chairperson State Commission for Women, Gore Lal Jatav as chairman State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and Paras Nath Maurya as chairman State Commission for Backward Classes.
All the four commissions have been also given Deputy Chairpersons.
But the Mayawati administration has not reconstituted Uttar Pradesh Urdu Akademy and Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad Memorial Committee, as a result of which these two institutions that had stopped functioning in the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav government have not been revitalised.
