MP Minister passes away, cremated with state honours

Bhopal, June. 23: Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Forests Prakash Sonkar, passed away in the wee hours today following a massive heart attack at the Jhabua district headquarters circuit house around 3 am. He was 54.
   
Sonkar was rushed to the hospital but collapsed on the way. He was cremated with full state honours at Indore in the afternoon. Besides Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state finance minister Raghavji Bhai, forest and transport minister Himmat Kothari, PWD minister Kailash Vijaywargiya, former chief minister Kailash Joshi and apex bank vice chairman Bhanwarsingh Shekhawat along with large number of people were present at the funeral to pay tributes to the popular leader. 
   
He was 54. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
   
Sonkar, who represented Sanver assembly constituency, was the incharge minister of the tribal Jhabua district. The state government has declared one day's state mourning following Sonkar's demise. 
   
Madhya Pradesh Governor Dr. Balram Jakhar and Chief Minister Chouhan have expressed profound grief over the sad demise of Sonkar.
   
Dr. Jakhar in his condolence message said that Sonkar's demise is a irreparable loss to the state. He further mentioned that  Sonkar has contributed significantly towards the development of the state while discharging duties on several government and public posts. He also dedicated his life completely for the welfare of scheduled caste, tribe and poor people.
   
Chouhan said that Sonkar was a dedicated and hard worker of the party and we have lost an admirable politician and good social worker. He also described the demise of Sonkar as irreparable loss to the state. ([email protected])
