The review of the elections is one of the several items on the agenda of the party's national executive, said BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi ahead of the party's office-bearers' meeting Sunday evening.

A resolution on the party's performance in Uttar Pradesh would seek to take the recent defeat in its stride, said party sources.

"Temporary reverses don't deter national parties like the BJP from forging ahead," said a senior BJP leader, adding, there is a need to "learn from past mistakes".

The proceedings Monday would start with BJP national president Rajnath Singh delivering the presidential address.

BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley would, however, miss the meet as he is in abroad spending summer vacation with his family, party sources said.

As part of the political resolution, the national executive will highlight the failures of Manmohan Singh-led ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

It will also criticise the central and Tamil Nadu governments for going ahead with the Setusamudram canal project between India and Sri Lanka through the Gulf of Mannar notwithstanding the BJP's plea to protect the mythological Ram Setu, said party sources.

Another resolution on agriculture will "highlight the plight of farmers' suicides in Maharashtra and the recent government bid to acquire farmland for special economic zones," said Naqvi.
