New Delhi : The highest decision-making body of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Tuesday endorsed the suspension of Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and state committee chief Pinarayi Vijayan from the party's politburo.
Announcing this at the conclusion of the three-day party Central Committee meeting here, CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat added that the two party stalwarts from Kerala will, however, continue to function in their respective positions.
In the meantime, the party will take stock of the situation in Kerala and report to the next meeting of the Central Committee, Karat said.
He also announced that the party congress, held every three years, will be held at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, in March 2008 and that the state conferences ahead of it will start in September.
