Madurai : Brisk polling was underway Tuesday in Tamil Nadu's Madurai West assembly seat, with the DMK-backed Congress taking on the AIADMK.
Balloting was on in 216 centres in the constituency of 156,182 voters, officials said.
The AIADMK candidate is 'Sellur' K. Raju and that of the Congress K.S.K. Rajendran.
The by-election followed the death of AIADMK legislator S.V. Shanmugam in February. The votes will be counted June 29.
