A Bathinda court had last week issued the warrant against the sect head following a controversy last month over his portrayal in the manner of 10th Sikh guru Gobind Singh.

The court has also asked police to take the state government's permission before executing the warrant.

Confirming that the home department had given police a go-ahead, Punjab Advocate General H.S. Mattewal said: "Whatever the government had to do in this case has been done now."

A team of the Punjab police will go to the sect's headquarters near Sirsa town of neighbouring Haryana, about 300 km from here, to arrest the godman.
