Washington : The US India Business Council (USIBC) has conferred its "Global Vision" awards on Reliance Industries (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani and Boeing chairman Jim McNerney.
Ambani exemplifies the expansive vision of India's global companies, said the council representing over 250 largest US companies investing in India and global Indian companies, in conferring the award Wednesday during its Global India summit.
"Under his leadership, Reliance Industries is operating on a world scale in offshore and onshore oil and gas exploration and production, creating a pan-India petroleum retail network, and setting up a new export oriented refinery through RIL's subsidiary Reliance Petroleum Limited," it said.
McNerney, who was given the award for deepening his firm's deep and enduring commitment to India, said Indian companies could play a key role in Boeing's global supply chain for both commercial aircraft and military sales.
Companies already supplying software and information technology to the commercial side "could become a significant part of the total Boeing enterprise, including our Integrated Defence Systems business," he said accepting the USIBC award.
USIBC noted that Boeing's commitment to India dates back six decades "when India joined the jet age on the wings of Boeing jetliners."
Boeing has recently expanded its team in India and is actively developing important relationships with Indian industry to strengthen its presence in defence and commercial sectors, it said.
