By IANS, Srinagar : Kashmir police have busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module in Kashmir, responsible for a grenade attack on the Srinagar residence of the moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other terrorist activities.
“In all, we arrested 13 militants including a woman working under the direct command of Abu Tahir, Pakistani commander of LeT,” S. M. Sahai Kashmir zone inspector general of police told reporters here Tuesday.
“The LeT module was involved in the grenade attack on the residence of the Hurriyat chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on January 15 this year and had also attacked the moderate Hurriyat headquarters (in Srinagar) on January 31.”
Sahai said that the LeT was trying to intimidate the moderate leaders in the separatist conglomerate.
He said investigations carried out revealed that the module was also responsible for the killing of policemen, police sources and political activists.
