Dipika breaks into top 100 in squash rankings

New Delhi : Dipika Pallikal has became the second Indian after national champion Joshna Chinappa to break into the top 100 to a career high of 91st in the latest women’s world squash rankings.

Dipika, who is currently training under Egyptian coach Mohamed Essam Saleh, has 224 points and climbed 43 places.

Joshna, who was first female Indian player to break into top 100, slid two places to 41st with 1478 points.

Dipika featured in few elite Professional Squash Association (PSA) events at Qatar and Kuwait last month and despite failing to qualify for the main round, she earned enough ranking points to move to the 91st spot. She will next be seen in action at the Hurgada Open starting Monday.

In the men’s rankings, national champion Saurav Ghosal experienced a fall going down three places to 43rd.

Ritwik Bhattacharya, currently recovering from a knee injury, dropped four spots to 50th in the latest list.
