Baghdad : At least 11 Iraqis were killed and 19 wounded in two bomb attacks in a town south of Baghdad Wednesday, sources said.
“An explosive charge went off inside a minibus in Mahmoudiyah, killing eight passengers aboard and critically wounding four,” they said.
Separately, several mortar rounds landed on a residential area in the town killing three civilians and wounding 15, the sources added.
Mahmoudiyah, some 30 km south of the capital, is part of a rebel area dubbed “Triangle of Death”, which includes a cluster of towns on the main road from Baghdad to Hilla City.
Meanwhile, an American soldier died of non-battle causes in Iraq Tuesday, a military statement said.
Separately, the US troops detained ten suspects linked to the Al Qaida in Iraq organization, in western Anbar province.
