Gaza : The Israeli government will convene a special meeting on Wednesday to discuss the Winograd report on the Lebanon war.
The report, issued on Monday, accused Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Minister of Defence Amir Peretz of “serious failures” in managing the war.
During the meeting to be held Wednesday morning, Olmert will ask his ministers to approve the formation of a team to be assigned with the implementation of the recommendations of the Winograd Commission report on the summer war against Hezbollah. The team will be led by former chief of staff, Amnon Shahak, Radio Israel said.
It added that the team, to be proposed by Olmert, would comprise officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council, and other security circles.
The team will be entrusted with preparing a detailed plan, in a month’s time, on the application of the Winograd recommendations to put an end to what was referred to as deficiencies of the government’s performance during the war.
