New Delhi : The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) continues to lead in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections after the sixth phase of polling Thursday with the ruling Samajwadi Party improving its position to come second, exit polls by NDTV news channel showed.
The BSP is projected to bag 19-23 of the 52 seats for which elections were held Thursday with its tally likely to touch 120-130.
The Samajwadi Party is a close second, forecast to bag 16-20 seats taking its tally after this round to between 110-120. The Bharatiya Janata Party was at third spot with 9-13 seats with its tally at a similar 110-120.
Congress, at fourth place, is expected to bag 0-3 seats in this round giving it a tally of 35-45.
The exit poll had taken a sample size of 9,301 people across 25 constituencies out of the 52 where voting took place in the sixth phase.
