Shimla : Nine members of a family were killed Thursday when their jeep fell into a gorgein Shillai area of Himachal Pradesh, some 200 km from here.
Only one person survived the accident.
“One person jumped out of the rolling vehicle and survived with injuries as the vehicle fell into a 200 metre gorge. All nine died on the spot,” said Sirmaur district police chief J.P. Singh.
The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle which hurtled down the hillside, he said. The victims were on their way to a temple in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
On Wednesday, 22 people were killed in a similar accident in the state.
