Major Dimple Singla, the first Indian Army officer to be tried by a GCM, through her defence counsel claimed that the court of inquiry against her was biased and prejudiced. The counsel contended that Singla was never allowed to cross-examine the prosecution witnesses.

Singla retired from the Army March 7.

An officer of the judge advocate general (JAG) branch, Singla is accused of demanding money from army personnel for helping them in cases when she was in service. Her counsel alleged that the summary of evidence papers had been tampered with.

He alleged that the procedure was not followed in ordering a court of inquiry and setting up a GCM against her.
