Srinagar: People’s Democratic Party chief Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that Kashmir issue was approaching ultimate settlement following the realization by India and Pakistan that the path to the region’s peace and economic progress passes through Jammu & Kashmir.
The realization that path to the region’s peace and economic progress passes only through Jammu & Kashmir is forcing India and Pakistan to work for the amicable resolution of the protracted problem that is otherwise making them to pay huge economic costs, Sayeed said while addressing a public meeting at Kuthar, Shangus in Anantnag district today
Terming the situation in the state as a part of regional conflict, he said the people of Jammu & Kashmir, unfortunately, became the worst victims of the region’s hostility and they had to bear enormous human and economic costs for the troubles that were not of their own making.
He said the fast-changing ground situation in Jammu & Kashmir demands that the Government of India must take necessary reciprocal measures to make peace with the people of the State by trusting them and addressing their just and genuine political and economic concerns.
Speaking on the occasion, PDP President Ms Mehbooba Mufti said the party would take its struggle for the restoration of the honor and dignity of the people of Jammu & Kashmir to its logical conclusion, “at any cost”.
She said the greatest contribution of PDP to the State’s political scenario is its role in the emancipation and empowerment of the people.
Ms Mufti said the people are now extremely conscious of their rights and fully know the worth of all the political parties, groups and individuals in the State who have been, otherwise, thriving on manipulative and exploitative politics taking advantage of its political instability.
