New Delhi : Freak showers coupled with squall lashed the capital late Thursday evening, bringing down the summer temperature by over 5 degrees Celsius.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rain started at around 8.30 p.m. and stopped within 20 minutes. However, it brought 6.2 mm rain in that short period.
"It rained heavily but for a very short duration. It looks like freak showers," said a met official.
Before it rained, the temperature was 28.8 degrees Celsius. It plummeted to 23.4 degrees after the rain. On Thursday, Delhi recorded a maximum of 39.7 degrees Celsius
"It's a much-needed relief and the atmosphere is quite cool. It should rain every evening," commented Gaurav Singh, a businessman.
