London : Jermain Defoe hit a 67th-minute equaliser as Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League.
A victory Thursday would have guaranteed Spurs qualification for the UEFA Cup, but they now need at least a draw Sunday at home to Manchester City to secure European football next season.
Blackburn had taken a first-half lead through Benni McCarthy, but Spurs rallied after half-time, and only the post denied Robbie Keane a winner in the final minute Thursday.
Rovers now cannot qualify for the UEFA Cup and will have to look to the Inter Toto Cup for European football.
They had Jason Roberts sent off in injury time after being booked twice in quick succession, the second time for dissent.
